"We only spent one night as a stopover from Cancun to Merida so we could visit Chichen Itza and Cenote Ik Kil first thing for which it was very conveniently placed. Quite dated property but spotless and quiet in the evening and with nice restaurant surrounding a pool which sadly we didn't have time to use."

"This hotel was very nice, the staff was always helpful and courteous. It is a beautiful historic building which they have preserved its uniqueness and beauty, but it doesn't have any of the modern amenities. If you are on the second floor, be ready to do some good exercise by climbing the steps several times a day as you need it. The main building doesn't have central A/C, and it stays for the most part cool, but Merida is extremely hot. The rooms have an AC unit, but our room's a/c didn't work...

"Hotel Castelmar is a beautiful, 200 year hotel, very centrally located in Campeche. They offer a reasonably priced breakfast, which we enjoyed during our stay. The Hotel has period furnishings, but everything worked and was adequate. We received a very reasonable rate for two nights,so our room was smaller than what we usually choose. "
