"Really nice place. Didn’t have some of the amenities we were counting on such as laundry and room service, but had laundry place and a few restaurants near by. Staff was super nice and helpful. I was in a gated area so felt really safe. The breakfast was great! Beach was a close walk and they had beach towels. "

"So we arrived to our hotel rather late in the evening and upon arrival they said they had to move us across the street to stay at a different Riu. They sent us to Riu Playacar. The hotel was good however we would have rather stayed at tequila as it was a family reunion . I would suggest going to any of the riu hotels in the area as they were all nice and a very short walk between all of them if you want to explore. "

"The resort was very nice and clean. Rooms were big and well equipped. However the family area is a very long walk from the beach and main buffet. I also noticed that most of the beach chairs are blocked off for the executive level people as well as a few of the more convenient pools. Furthermore if you would like to book a dinner at one of the a la cart good luck unless you are executive level. "

"This was our 3rd time staying at Sandos Playa Del Carmen. We like the property, beach is wonderful. Staff is friendly. Has lots of pool options and eating places but was harder to get in restaurants this time. All in all beautiful big property with lots of choices. And its very walkable if your at all fit somewhat. "

"This is not a five star resort, but a five star value. We have stayed at Iberostar properties more than 10 times and they never disappoint. Very good food,.good drinks, great service, friendly atmosphere and at this property an amazing landscape. Plus the best beach anywhere. We will return. One caveat. BD Experience, our shutt service from the airport to the resort had no record of our reservation. Staff claimed this was a recurring issue with Expedia. We waited 45 minutes for them to sort...

"What I liked most about the resort was that it was smaller so everything was so accessible. The food was fantastic especially at the a la carte restaurants as well as the pool side restaurant. The beach was incredible. The one thing that I wasn't a fan of was the diamond members being able to reserve pool side chairs and umbrellas and sometimes not showing up until noon or not showing up at all. Also, the only thing that was missing at the breakfast buffet was a toaster. Ither than that,...
