"We were delighted at this property’s cleanliness, as well as both its remoteness and close proximity to Hilo town. It was a perfect place to reconnect with and enjoy our college-aged sons. The home was clean, breezy and its kitchen supplied everything we needed for multiple meals together at home. Walks along Beach Road and the shore access (a short walk) were powerfully impactful. "We did enjoy our stay with some minor improvements needed. Number one impressive kitchen from photos but oven and cooktop were difficult to operate. We never did get either ovens to work. Poorly out fitted no vegetable peeler or box grater. Blender was broken and three chipped wine glasses only. This was rectified within 24 hours. No plastic ware for outdoor pool area. BBQ only had one propane tank with no spare to be found. Given the distance back to Hilo and the fact that ovens didn’t work...

"I really enjoyed staying at this house. I was plenty big for my family of 6 and we enjoyed the lush foliage and koi pond. We also loved the small town of Honomu, which we walked to every morning. My only complaint was the cleanliness. The dining room table setting was dusty and looked like it hadn’t been touched in a month. Also there was animal poop all over inside the house. I thought at first it was rodents, but eventually realized (I think) it was from geckos."

"we met the owners on our arrival and found them to be extremely involved and wonderful hosts, our stay was also wonderful but we did have a few hic-ups , it. seems the company in charge of supply and care of the unit was being changed so we did not receive proper responses to our requests. after we found out who the new manager was (John) he took care of everything, Thank you again John. we highly recommend a stay at the Treehouse at Hakalau. we will return."

"I was super excited to stay at this property. The pluses...the Koy pond. The fish are amazing and love to eat. Also, the sounds at night from nature. Would have been nice to have a lounger in the sun room rather than just chairs. Not many other pluses. We tried to get connected to Internet. The welcome book didn't seem to match the house. The descriptions were off. There were at least 5 remotes but none of them did anything. Only one turned off and on the TV. TV was activated through Roku....
