Location good. Good Price. Room is ok. Nice friendly staff. Cons: Only 2 towels in bathroom. Stairs too steep for seniors-should have been given room on street level. ( Was on lower level.) Ran out of food at breakfast. Was advised in advance that hot water was slow to arrive at shower but not available after running tap 5 minutes.

Front desk staff were polite and helpful. Asked for extra blankets and the staff member was cordial and accommodating. The Wild Ginger Inn is a gem and is a pleasant stay. We have stayed here many times. We really like it.

I seriously love the atmosphere of the place! It’s like a comfortable pair of worn out shoes. The place is not polished but it’s charming.

Expedia, your rating for this hotel is completely misleading. My wife and I checked in late (around 9:30 PM) and were shocked by the condition of our room. It was dirty, smelly, and poorly maintained. The sink had no hot water, the shower handle was broken and replaced with an actual plier, and the walls were paper-thin. The linens had a strong odor, the fridge didn’t work, and the entire room had an unbearable stench. We barely slept. To make matters worse, waking up early for breakfast was a mistake. We should have known better, as we had already lost confidence in the hotel’s cleanliness and service. This was an extremely disappointing stay, and I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone.

I had a microwave a little refrigerator in my room. The people doing the cleaning did a nice job. It was nice to be able to check in late and get access through a combination code on one of four little lock boxes which held my keys. It isn't saying a lot, but I believe I may have gotten the best of the queen-sized rooms, as it was the one pictured in their add on Expedia. This picture doesn't show the non-closable windows, bent up & loose metal shower drain, which pokes your feet as you try to dodge the ice water. I gave the water 35 minutes the first night, dipping a hand under the water and splashing a little on my body, hoping it would get warmer, but it didn't. Well, actually it went from icy cold, to not-quite-as-cold in just 35 minutes! This was not just the case the first night, it continued to run cold every day but two, out of my 7 night stay. The second night I heard someone next door showering, so I tried and it had warmed up enough to not scream out, but not warm enough to actually get comfortable. I was told I could use one of the bathrooms or showers in the lobby. I peeked in and didn't get any hope of it being better, but it may have been okay. One couple did come down to use the restrooms, because their toilet was gushing skyward. They couldn't shut off the water, and no plunger could be found - no staff available either... I didn't leave the "hotel" because I was by myself. If my wife had been with me, I think we would have turned around and left immediately.

Property was old and termite ridden. Nothing "charming" about it. Traffic noise was bad and music from a few blocks away was loud.

Did not have expectations. Needed a place to stay on short notice. Would give one more star had the price been more reasonable. The place is old and run down. Flooring peeling up, paint peeling, rooms its self is unlevel. That being said bedding, towels clean, comfortable enough beds. Would stay at hostel in town next time.

Was an affordable place to stay. But the place felt very dilapidated there was a room next to ours that was boarded up. The staff when checking in didn’t really communicate and there was no staff at checkout time. But they did send lots of emails before check in. Did get the security deposit back. At dinner we got made fun of when we told our server where we were staying. But it worked for the night if you’re adventurous and laid back could work for you. But I know people who wouldn’t have stayed the night. If it were half the price I paid I’d probably been more generous with the stars but yeah definitely not up to par for the price even if it is in Hawaii.

Wow, this is a difficult review. When we got there it was late, around midnight. Thefront doorwas locked and there was no bell or buzzer so we knocked a few times and afters few minutes a young lady came and opened fhe door. She looked us up and said it was to late to checkin. After telling her mywife was pregnant and we needed our room she called her manager and they said ok. She checked us in and gave us our room key. We had ordered a double room but the one we got only had a king bed which wasn't helpful as we also had kid's with us. We brought it up and she said it was the only room they had and the only double was taken. She gae us a rollaway bed which barely fit in the room. When we went to take a shower we discovered that our room had NO hot water. We went to the desk and we were told that it can take a while and to run the hot. Water for 20 or so minutes. We let it run for 30 and no ht water. I think this is a horrible waste of water and money. We told them the hot water ever showed up and they said they have two communal baths in the lobby that have hot water. So we all headed up there just to find luke warm water in oe shower and a little warmer in the other. The place was clean, no bugs, no bad smells and clean linens. The building is in serious disrepair but it was the one thing i ejoyed. Thetrue to hawaii visual experience was great and the landscaping was beautiful. I wouldnt stayhere again if i need hot water.

Felt like living in a jungle. Flies, bugs, spiders, even a lizard in the room. Towels were dirty and stained, amenities were expired, no hot water when showering. There was mold on the breakfast food items and coffee machine was not working and didn't have coffee available last 4 days out of 7 days stay.

Lovely staff who were very helpful. The property was built in 1920 by the grandfather of the young lady who managed the hotel during our visit. She told us that plans are being made to refurbish the hotel. We stayed in the ocean view room where the views are stunning. The hotel does need some modenisation in some parts.

This is an old property that is a great retreat in spite of it's foibles. Three years ago when I stayed he my concern was the safety of the neighborhood. There has been a remarkable change for the better. For the price you can't beat it. The staff is wonderful.
