"The staff is extremely hospitable & the room size is generous which makes up for the shabbiness of the property. We stayed 10 days and only one elevator functioning the entire time. Midway through the stay elevator would not stop on our floor. We were relocated to a room that did not have as nice of a view. The bathroom is black tile, but a portion was repaired with white grout. The property does not merit a resort fee, nor being classed as Small Luxury Hotel by Hilton."

"I love this property. However, After waiting 30 min for my husband in the lobby from dropping off the car at the parking lot. To go to my room, I saw SEVEN people ask for umbrellas. Two staff would ask “are you guests?” They’d say yes, & an umbrella was handed to them. I checked in, went upstairs to drop my things off quickly. & rushed back down stairs. I went to the same lady giving out umbrellas & was ready to say “yes I’m a guest.” Only for her to say “you should have one IN YOUR ROOM?” As if...

"Listen folks, if you are low on funds and need to stay in Manhattan for a night, this will suffice. I don't recommend couples coming here for a sexy night because the walls are thin and the ceilings are like mesh. You can hear everything. I'd say it's clean, but you can't clean built in grime. Great location. Nice staff."

"Hard to speak of it because oddly enough I did not end up staying there. You see, the hotel was fully booked when we arrived despite us making reservations. But thankfully, the guy (Frankie) at the front desk was kid and helpful and solution-oriented enough to put as at a second hotel owned by same owner 2 blocks away that was far better for the original cost! So...we were quite lucky! It was so nice there at the Allen Hotel and staff were very helpful and kind. So I have to give a positive...
