"Visited for our 32nd wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. Booked a classic double room but when we arrived were informed that they upgraded us to an executive room which was really large and immaculately prepared. We had use of the spa facilities if needed for additional cost but free use of the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna for 1 hour per day which made for a relaxing time after a long walk around York. "We booked a very last minute stay here. The drive into hotel is lovely and from the outside a lot of character. Inside main hotel was modernly decorated and still had character. We had a room in the coach house which is in the next building to the hotel. The room was quite dated compared to main hotel. Good sized room. A little dusty in areas. Plenty room for clothes. "Not bad but could do with a clean. The pool was very nice but again a bit shabby. Room was OK but let down by bathroom being a bit shoddy. Grounds are lovely with ducks on the lake."
