"Visited for our 32nd wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. Booked a classic double room but when we arrived were informed that they upgraded us to an executive room which was really large and immaculately prepared. We had use of the spa facilities if needed for additional cost but free use of the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna for 1 hour per day which made for a relaxing time after a long walk around York. "Room was at the top of the hotel, up lots of very narrow stairs, very basic room which felt more like a spare room, hotel is definitely not a 4 star, struggle to be a 2 Room was very dated and small things werent right, the bedside light fitting was ver loose, the ceiling had decor missing, the wallpaper is like something out of the eighties, the room was tiny, cold and very unwelcoming, the only thing this hotel provided above a 2 star was the toilet roll. Even the water cups were white...

"Unfortunately not a perfect stay which was very disappointing with it being my husband’s birthday, booked through Hotels.com so not allowed to use the pool unless we paid £45 each, I have never heard of this before.The rooms are very nice but paying £5 for nut or crisps is ridiculous. The breakfast was very underwhelming with minimal choice, awful cold poached eggs, cold plates, weak coffee, all left me feeling very sick! Not worth £291 for one night. "
