"The open-air bath on the balcony was great. The meals were okay but not as good as we have had at upscale onsen hotels. The shuttle bus service was good, although the bus was not equipped to handle large baggage that foreign tourists usually have. There is not much to do in the immediate vicinity of the hotel so you need to have the shuttle take you to the area around the train station."

"Great hotel to stay at in a great location, yes hotel was dated and the French breakfast was underwhelming. However its located very close to everything you would want to do in Hakone and its surrounding areas, the customer service was excellent , view amazing, kid friendly, easy parking and overall a great stay at hakone hotel!"

"The exterior looks old but the interior seems to have been renovated and it is in excellent condition including the room we were in. The private onsens are in outstanding condition, the public onsens are great although not as good. The breakfast was excellent with several Japanese and western dishes. The place is close enough to the train station to walk but far enough so that the noise of the town does not bother. "
