Close proximity to Nijo Castle however best to take a bike from the hostel starting from 500 yen to travel around as trains and buses do get crowded during peak season. "Matsui Honkan is our first experience at Ryokan. It was a fantastic stay. The staff were supper friendly. The served breakfast and dinner were not only delicious but also looked great in the presentation. The location of the property is excellent. Nishiki Market, Kawaramachi Street, Pontocho Alley are all within minutes of walking distance. I would recommend anyone who would like to experience a traditional Japanese Ryokan. "
