We found a messy, unfolded duvet thrown in the closet and a few strands of hair in the bedding. Assuming the duvet was used by the previous guest and not folded by housekeeping after guests checked out."

"Good experience to stay in traditional Japanese house.clean and kitchen well equipped. Washing machine was convenient. Due to it being an older building, insulation isn’t very good and gets very cold in the winter and need heaters in all rooms. Location is not great as it is walking distance to most places. Bus stop 7 minute walk. Could have provided more furniture such as chairs. Overall nice experience besides being on the cold side."

The neighborhood was not hard to navigate, but it was a good ten minute walk to the busy part of shijo-dori. We arrived very late in the evening but had no trouble. "The machiya was fantastic!! Great location!! Very clean and had all the amenities we wanted! Upstairs room with Western beds was spacious and beautiful! The boys loved the futons downstairs for a true traditional Japanese experience. "
