"All staff were welcoming and helpful. It was nice having a fridge, microwave and sink to be able to eat in at times. Laundry facilities were available. I'd go for a dip in the ocean right next door and then hop into the pool. Very relaxing. Ask for a room, second floor, overlooking the pool as this gives you a nice view of the ocean as well. Very good location in Hilo "

The property has good potential and it appears they are working on improving the overall facility with some remodeling. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It felt safe and was overall a good resting place for the night."

"We’ve stayed in the Volcano area three times and this was the best accommodation by far. Check-in was flawless and our room was clean, large, and comfortable. The hosts have thought of everything. There was a mini-fridge with freezer and a microwave. There were also a few necessary cups, dishes, silverware and glassware. This is SO important in Volcano, as there are so few dining options. If you bring a well-stocked cooler, you could spend several days here comfortably. We would stay here...

"We really enjoyed the unique decor and setup. Our room had a separate coffee and sitting area, which allowed one of us to wake up early. The facility also covers heat and cold really well, with different built in heaters, a fan and extra blankets. Only small gripe - it has a fancy TV built into the wall that would not turn off. We suggested that the facility provide directions. On a positive note, the facility gave great directions and reminders in other areas. So, definitely come here if...

"Overall I'd give 4.5 stars. Great location if you want to be close to the National Park. I received a free upgrade to the king room on the ground floor, but there was a persistent musty smell, similar to a gym locker. The dehumidifier in the room would not work, despite the instructions to juggle the tank until the light turns off. I suspect this is the cause of the smell. Otherwise the accomodations were fine, bed was not very comfortable but worked after a long day hiking. Check in and check...

"This lodge is a little outdated. Room is small. Shared kitchen is convenient. Close to Hilo airport. Very loud when plane pass by. Close to the beaches which are really good for snorkeling. Can see lots of turtles."

"Neighborhood is a little questionable. Some possible homelessness. Staff are kind and attentive. The building has maintained a sense of culture. Coffee banana bread and a whole papaya for breakfast was appreciated. Appliances are old but functional. Noise carries but it's ok because it's part of the experience. "
