"This is a very nice resort and possibly the best one I have stayed at in Mexico! I arrived on January 5th and stayed until the 19th. The entire trip including flights and transportation (Happy Shuttle) to and from the resort went very smooth without incident. Staff were first class and you're treated very well! This resort is big with an abundance of walkways for exercise as well as just getting around. A lot of food choices with the restaurants as well as the "Poolbum" food services that were pool side that included burgers, nachos, tacos and more! The pool is very nice (lagoon style) and big with two swim up bars. One end is the party zone and the other end is the quiet zone. My room was very nice and located in building #4 which provided easy access and short distance to the pools as well as the path to the La Marche restaurant for breakfast and lunch buffets. Plenty of food choices for all likes! Although I have been to them before and didn't do it on this trip, I would recommend the excursions to Xplor for the snorkeling as well as Xcaret! If you're planning on going to Playa del Carmen for some shopping, it's about an hour can ride for about CDN$140 return. A couple things to remember is that you can't use cash at the resort except for tipping! Everything is charged to the room and the store that is on the premises is very expensive for such things as Coppertone tanning spray (CDN$51.00), Chips (CDN$15) and chocolate bars (CDN$12.00). "

"Fun trip with our guys! We did nearly miss an excursion because we couldn’t contact the front desk for a shuttle to the main lobby which was nerve racking. Otherwise a fun trip!"

"We discovered this gem about 2 years ago and we continue to return (every time I have booked another resort, I have ended up cancelling and we go back to JOIA/Grand Paraiso, it’s a “sure thing”!) What makes us such big fans? -spectacular, over the top facilities and decor (beyond impressive lobby, marble everywhere, gorgeous finishings and fixtures, flowers, lush grounds…) -All restaurants are air conditioned, with a very high end atmosphere -exceptional food -top shelf liquor/masterfully prepared cocktails -friendly and welcoming staff that go above and beyond -we have not had problems getting into our desired restaurants -ample pool chairs with shade options, we have never had to get out early to “compete” for a spot (as is so often the case at other resorts) We previously were loyal guests at Excellence Playa Mujeres for over a decade (more than 20 trips) but JOIA has become our new “go to”. This resort is packed with repeat guests who have come to appreciate everything that makes this place so special. Looking forward to our return next month! "

"It’s a great hotel. The kids had fun at the waterpark. It is tough getting around the resort because you have to get picked up by a golf cart every time. It’s a massive resort! The food was pretty good, everything was a little pricey, but it was to be expected."
