"The hotel is on the beach which made the stay wonderful. We could hear the ocean waves from our room. There are gas fire pits on the ocean side of the hotel that are turned on in the evening which makes it even nicer. The room was cozy. It did not have carpeting to attract the sand from our walk on the beach, but it did nice flooring. The only negative comment I have is that the room above ours had dogs and we could hear their nails on the floor as they walking around in the room. I do not...

"We really enjoyed our stay at Portola. It is centrally located to the wharf and downtown, super easy to park your car and walk everywhere. It’s a little bit of a walk to the aquarium but it’s a beautiful walk along the trail if you’re up for it. We loved the promenade right outside the lobby with a cafe, wine bar, bike rental shop, etc. which were super convenient. We would definitely stay at Portola again. "

"Beautiful grounds, a short walk to the beach, kind and helpful staff, a comfortable bed and bedding, new floors and windows, nicely painted yellow and green walls (but with dents and previous nails, etc underneath), functional kitchen (but could use updated serving ware, pots and pans, and maybe a better kitchen faucet if im being extra picky), a great shower and tub (it was slow to drain but the hotel fixed it quickly), a cute dinner table and chairs (the chairs werr more worn than I expected)....
