"We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Monterey Le Frere Osaka! The hotel was really nice and after getting used to the traditions, we loved going to the sento/Trinite baths every day. It's a bit of a walk from the Osaka train stations, but in January we were still able to stay underground for almost all of the eay there. Fair warning - when visiting the Umeda underground routes be ready to be lost as it's very convoluted and busy, so it's easy to get confused. The hotel and staff on the other hand...

"It was a mixed bag. We had 2 rooms - one was great, one said newly renovated but looked anything like it (had old bathtub, small etc). Bellboy was not helpful, but people at the desk were helpful.
