"My favourite hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia is the Sylvia Hotel, which was built in 1912 and has been updated… the Westgate reminds me of the Sylvia… the windows that open are wonderful to enjoy the sounds of New York and fresh air… the beds are very comfortable… the staff are very helpful and accommodating… I was doing business at the United Nations and the Westgate is a block up the street to the west from the UN…"

"For New York the hotel was a good deal better than we expected. The room was large, clean and given that NY never sleeps it was reasonably quiet. Yes the decor was a little tired but still very much to a reasonable standard. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The idea of the destination fee of $40 per day should be dropped and added to the standard charge. Then give the $15 as a bonus per day to spend in the shop. Many thanks for a great stay "

"Great location but it’s a huge hotel with many, many rooms so not a good choice if you don’t like crowds. We were there during construction so it will be much less congested when the lobby renovation is done."
