"I was really happy during my stay here at RIU. Everything was perfect! Staff, atmosphere, vibe, the breakfast buffet- all amazingly good. Loved my room very much. had a little view of Michigan ave since they gave me the higher floor. it was just a nice overnight stay...will be back for sure❤️"

"This is the second time we’ve stayed here in the last two years but unfortunately this time wasn’t as enjoyable as the last. This had nothing to do with the staff or services, but we were able to hear the people in the adjacent rooms easily and we had repeated issues with loud people in the halls at late hours. We are not especially cranky about these things but the poor sound insulation does need to be addressed-at least on the 24th floor. "

"My husband, son and i were traveling back from a wedding in Pennsylvania to Nebraska. My son ( 22 ) said he would like to wake up Christmas morning in Chicago. I looked on hotels.com and we found a boutique hotel in downtown Chicago. I had never been to Chicago before so i was amazed and LOVED BEING DOWNTOWN!!!"

"Great location, everything was walking distance, we took the blue train from the airport to downtown Chicago ($5 per person) the hotel was less than a mile walking distance when we got off the train. Great staff very professional and respectful, they also hold your luggage after check out "

The only place we will stay

"The location of the hotel could not be more perfect, and so is the price but the real reason we stay here is the people. Literally ALL the people we encountered at the River Hotel have been incredible. Given the expected turnover in staff in two years, we were thrilled to see the same gentleman behind the counter. The other two staffers were genuine, honest and extremely helpful. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay near the Loop. (One unexpected bonus - if you can spot the Trump building you know where your hotel is - right across the street. ) "
