"Nice hotel. Huge room. The bathroom was bigger than the other Japan hotels we stayed at. All the staff we interacted with were fantastic. A bit of a language barrier but they tried their best to communicate. We got a really good rate for two days, included breakfast. Just so no one is caught off guard as I was, this is an adult hotel. "From the moment we arrived I felt like we received white glove service. The staff was friendly and spoke multiple languages, inc English. Checking in was super easy for us. They have reserved bath / shower time for the limited shower space but it works & the showers/bath was very nice. We cooked dinner with the supplies given and would definitely come back in the near future. It was a memorable experience with great views of mt Fuji! "

"La Vista is set quite high up so if you're coming on the tourist bus (red line near stop 17) like us it's a bit of a mountain goat trek up the hill. If you have heavy bags it would be advisable to get a taxi. But when you get to the hotel the view is awesome. I think all the rooms have a view, and we were lucky that Mt Fuji was visible and the day was lovely. The bathroom and balcony overlook the settlement below and the mountain. "Lovely location and we were lucky enough to have views of Fuji out of our window. The rooftop viewing area was lovely to sit out on with a shady area for sunny days. Breakfast was two choices but we enjoyed it. We also stayed for an evening meal which was lovely and good value. Room was huge. "

"Lovely quirky hotel. It is quite basic but the rooms are clean (and have a great view of Mt Fuji!), and the communal lounge is great to hang out in. The staff are lovely and so helpful, the shuttle to and from the station was very helpful! Lots of restaurants within walking distance. "

Love the experience!

"Wonderful! Best meal of our trip and relaxing private onsens. Comfortable beds and strong wifi. We would definitely return. Ajisai is a ryokan or traditional Japanese inn tatami-matted rooms, futons and private onsens or natural hot springs. Upon making a reservation, the hotel sent us a detailed email with directions and advice. The managers/owners are lovely and very helpful. When you arrive, you can feel the peaceful atmosphere. Our family studio had a queen and a twin bed raised with 2 extra futons in the closet. The rooms are spacious with a private bathroom but no showers –reserve an onsen which include showers. Buy the “half board” which includes kaiseki or a multi-course dinner and your choice of Japanese or Western breakfast. The dinner was an entire experience – just as you finish a course, another one is served. Our favorite course was the cook your own beef on your own mini cooking device – it was both fun and delicious. There were 3 choices of private onsens: indoor and outdoor, indoor with sauna, or outdoor. They were a very relaxing and rejuvenating experience. You will love the serenity and overall experience of Ajisai Onsen Ryokan!"

"This is our second stay here at this hotel. We loved it so much last year that we had to return this year. The staff is excellent, the food at the buffet was delicious, our room was comfortable and even more so with the outdoor hot tub made it lovely. I had several shiatsu massages at the hotel wellness area with wonderful massage persons. I would highly recommend this hotel."

"We came here for our honeymoon. The staff went above and beyond to make out stay a very special one. The hotel was very high-end and comfortable. We loved our private onsen and the morning breakfast. We also got unlimited ice cream! Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a special trip or to relax in Hakone."

"A Truly Memorable and Authentic Japanese Experience Our stay at Hakone Kowakien Mikawaya Ryokan was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, whose kindness, attentiveness, and genuine friendliness made us feel right at home. They went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and were always willing to help with anything we needed. The room was beautiful—spacious, peaceful, and perfectly in line with the traditional Japanese aesthetic we were hoping to experience. "Very cool, retro early 60’s hotel that’s been well preserved. So many great things to say about this hotel great staff very welcoming excellent transportation shuttle options. The views are amazing huge patio with lounge chairs to relax and soak in the view of Mount Fuji many dining options. The buffet was excellent, filled with traditional Japanese and American breakfast choices known for its onson/Spa this hotel is truly a step back in time and such a treat. Favorite part of the property is the size of the guest rooms which were huge by Japanese hotel standards large sliding windows open to bring in fresh air and gorgeous views beautiful ropes slippers. This hotel is truly delight. Don’t miss the gift shop. Hope to visit again! "

"This property was absolutely gorgeous!!! A worth mention was the staff how incredibly friendly they are and how they will make your experience that much more better. The restaurant riverside kitchen was delicious and had many options, the only issue we had was they sold out of their higher tier steaks which goes to show how incredible it must be! (Get reservations early in the night, our reservation was at 1945). Last but certainly not least was the private onsen in our room, overlooking the river and the mountains was always great to spend time in after a day of exploring. Highly recommend! "
