"The property is in such an excellent condition. Conveniently located as well, as it is a short walk to Lawson, and also to Lake Kawaguchiko. There are some restaurants around and within walking distance too. Each room comes with it's own onsen, and so convenient. The only downside is the lack of view from the rooms. But the service is impeccable. "

"Love the view of Mount Fuji from certain rooms and at the ryokan compound on a clear day. A little tricky getting to place using navigation online map but you will get there eventually. Breakfast is value for money. Great service."

Hotels near Other Yamanakako Attractions

Lake #Yamanaka is the largest, with highest altitude but shallowest and closest to the base of Mount #Fuji out of the Fuji Five Lakes. It is a lot less developed compared to Lake Kawaguchi, with the locals found fishing on the shore during warmer months. The lake is around 8km in diameter, with walkways clearly marked. When I was here in April the weather was strangely cold and there were no cherry blossoms to be found. I thought I already missed the season but the guest house's owner advised me that they would bloom later in the month due to the high altitude of the area. I was in Japan for 10 days and this was the ONLY day that Mt Fuji was visible for a whole day, so I considered myself extremely lucky. When I reached the lake it was near sunset so I couldn't venture far off. As soon as I found this branch of sakura tree I knew the powerful #silhouette would work and this definitely was my favourite image of the whole trip.

"The location of the hotel is a few minutes away from the lake and the bus stop. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful. He took us to a few spots to see MT Fuji when he knew we have no car. Both dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious and we had authentic Japanese cuisine experiences. "

A true traditional experience.

"View from our room to the lake and Mount Fuji was worth every single penny. Highly recommended that you either rent a car or be prepared to pay for taxis to go down to the town and restaurants. Most of the times it will be around 2,200 yens for a one way trip, so consider this in your expenses. Great traditional hotel with the opportunity to have a private onsen in the hotel. "

"Property is excellent, but area is a negative, is difficult to get there, GPS on expedia is way off by at least 1 kilometer, the property have no restaurant and all the area around, dies by 6PM, leaving you with the only option of 711, 800mts away which kind of close by 11PM i guess. Onsen is excellent. Room was excellent also."

"House was dirty to include a bag in the sink with fruit flies under as soon as I moved it. Some black things in the bathtub. Mini oven was just dirty. Multiple other things but could have been better. I would highly recommend to get another fan because it was really hot. Last thing is finding it. It was dark out so I know it made it way harder but the map on the app and address and direction pamphlet all said different things. Took me an hour to find the place. I almost booked another hotel. "

Peaceful and relaxing

"Loved the stay at Kounso. The room was spacious and had extra bedding that could be used to fit your preference. I was not sure about the shared bath, but each room reserves time slots, so you do not bath with strangers. I loved the cypress bath, it was perfect after a long day. I chose not to use the room heater because of the kerosene smell. Instead, the kotatsu table kept me plenty warm for this time of year. The location was very close to plenty of food and lake adventures. The owner was very helpful and friendly, even though I only knew a few words in Japanese. I visited alone, but I hope to bring my whole family for our next visit."

"We were really impressed with our stay at Almeria. It was our first time in Japan and we were there for 10 days. The staff was so incredibly kind and helpful. They made us feel right at home. The hotel itself is beautifully designed. We could even see Mount Fuji from the deck! The rooms were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and new. They also offer a private hot bath you can reserve which was a really nice touch after a long day. We appreciated that they had food available whether that was dinner or breakfast and we took advantage of that a number of times. It's just a short drive or walk down to the lake. We had a rental car and the parking was right in front of the building. Super easy. We can't say enough good things about our experience and would stay again!"
