"Pros: VERY VERY nice hotel with multiple large superb hot spring pools that are easy to hang around in for hours. Also multiple pools that are not heated. Restaurants and breakfast very good. Grounds are enormous with their walking paths and lots and lots of fauna/orchids. Amenities all round are very good. Drive the volcano road on the property itself for the best view in all Arenal of the volcano!!!! Rooms very large and comfortable. Easy drive to town and the national parks. We would book again! Cons: Make sure you do NOT get booked near the new construction - they should not be booking rooms that close!!. This was literally 10 feet from our room and we spent 30mins getting it changed. Rooms have just 2 power outlets for the entire room - bring power adapter. Some Hotel rooms are 50 yds up a very steep hill. Not an issue for us but would be for elderly and if you have to lug large suitcases. "

"Everything was perfect. The only thing I would like to mention is that the receptionist only recommended their transportation when we wanted to head out to town instead of giving us the option between their transportation and Uber. Their transportation fee was $28 plus tax and Uber was $7. Other than that, this is a really great resort. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean, and the views are AMAZING! "Staying at the Monteverde Lodge was one of the highlights of our CR trip. The setting with the jungle/window outside the property was tranquil. The food is amazing! Everything was presented beautifully. They set us up on several awesome tours with Rafael and we saw lots of wildlife we would never see on our own. The gardens and trails are gorgeous. We even saw a pack of capuchin monkeys climbing over the roof when we left. The staff did everything possible to ensure an excellent stay."

"Sorry had bad experience in restaurant waiter delivers our food to wrong table than took it back then 5 mins later he brought to our table same plates food was cold and they took mine back pretty sure they microwaved my plate it was obvious absolutely aweful if you eat here order the bar food they didn’t mess up pizza and wings the next night waiter offered free drink for the previous nights mistake what a joke "

"The room is clean and dark so good for sleeping. The walls are a bit thin if you are super sensitive to noise. You have to walk awhile for breakfast (but you could drive), so if you have an elderly person, it could be a bit of a walk! But the breakfast is pretty nice and the view is really nice. This is right in town. There’s a fun bridge to walk to for going to some of the rooms and nature is all around—you might see monkeys or toucans if you get up on the earlier side. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. You will want to be friends with them! "
