"We traveled to Otsu on a whim and chose Hotel Koo because we wanted to experience what it was like to stay in a traditional Japanese home. This did not disappoint- the accommodations we beautiful, serene and unusual. The town of Otsu is very quiet, but the people are amazing and the walkability down to Lake Biwa is great."

"The room was the usual size for business hotels. The bed was maybe a double but definitely not a single. I slept soundly and I was very comfortable. I have food allergies and the staff made a special plate for me from the buffet to make sure I found what I could eat. The buffet looked really good, many choices for those who can eat it all. "

"Our family of four had a wonderful stay at Kamuro An. Our downstairs room was large, with space for four futons, a separate sitting area, and a sink/dressing room. The toilet, shower and bath were down the hall, which did not bother us at all. From Kamuro An, we could walk to Kiyomizu Dera temple, Gion and more sights on the east side of Kyoto. "What a gem!! We stayed for 4 days. Had to readjust our arrival and departure date at last minute due to typhoon Shanshan☹️. They even refunded our last day stay without asking as we had to leave a day earlier due to approaching typhoon.We arrived at midnight by train and the manager met us on site to welcome us and explain everything. Having a washer and dryer in one machine on site saved us! We would do a load of laundry every night and in the morning have clean clothes. Saved a lot of time...
