"lili kyoto is not a typical hotel. It is small — three units on the ground floor, probably about the same on the floor above (I didn’t take the elevator up to check). It is totally unstaffed; to get in the front door you must obtain a code from the owner/manager. I got mine by having a nice lady in the Kyoto railway station tourist office call the owner/manager, who promptly emailed instructions. The front “lobby” and hallway are unheated. "The location is great, close to Kyoto Station and there bus stops nearby. Some good restaurants around. You can also visit the supermarket in a few hundred meters where you could find many fresh food at budget prices. The common kitchen is basic which only support very lightly cooking but still convenient. The free washing machines and dryers are very handy. We will recommend to stay in this hotel."

"There was a bunk bed (tatami style) and a wonderful experience. There was also a train and bus station near by, a 3 min walk away from the hotel. There was a traditional shop selling fried potato and chicken just around the corner, an easy stop for a quick breakfast. Just at the junction, there was also a western food shop and fruit stall.
