"This place is a very old traditional house. It’s really unique. I couldn’t fault it. Maybe the only thing I would say was it was a little hot in the room. But I guess this is Japanese summer. Our room was on top floor with high ceiling. So it couldn’t be helped. The price is excellent, it’s clean and traditional. What more could you want?"

"Surely a great choice for vacation. Spacious, enough for 4 people. Modern design with open kitchen. Love the big bathroom (with bathtub!) and toilet which are connected. Can choose to sleep on beds or tatami as there are plenty extra mattresses. Supermarket within 5-min walk. The owners greeted us warmly when check in and stayed connected during our stay. Everything is fine — would have been perfect if there is a television."

"Good place to stay just for sleeping if you’re out all day. Close proximity to Nijo Castle however best to take a bike from the hostel starting from 500 yen to travel around as trains and buses do get crowded during peak season. Beds are average and room is nothing particularly special. Bathrooms are clean and common area is nice. Make sure to make your own bed and remove sheets before checking out. "It was the first time I stayed in a Ryokan. The etiquette and professionalism of the staff was above expectations. The Kaiseki dinner was good as any fine-dining experience I've had. The explanation of ingredient and preparation of each course was total bliss. Traditional Kyoto meals which focuses on the ingredients more than strong savoriness was perfect for my palette and soul. "Basic ryokan situated in the heart of Kyoto, perfect location with lots around. However, the room was not the cleanest. We found a messy, unfolded duvet thrown in the closet and a few strands of hair in the bedding. Assuming the duvet was used by the previous guest and not folded by housekeeping after guests checked out."

"This is the second time I have stayed here visiting family. Overall nice property but there was an issue with guests from Mainland China. They were loud, drunk, rude, and made thenstay less enjoyable. This hotel should review it's travel partners and better vet the groups coming in. The area is good but too many Gaijin tourists who are ruining Kyoto with there boorish behavior. I feel sorry for the locals."
