"Polite and professional staff. Clean rooms. Quiet heat. Good location for me. Good value for the price. Always satisfied staying here. The only downside are the trains that pass by after dark but before midnight. I find them kind of soothing, not bothersome. Cheers."

"Convenient to all things Berkeley and the freeway. Best Holiday Inn Express breakfasts and they kept going longer than usual because of New Years Day. Much appreciated "

"This is the best place to stay in Bay Area. It's quiet, clean, close to everything, including family & friends. They are the nicest people. It is VERY sad that it is closing in January. "

"Had stayed here years ago and the upgrades and remodels were definitely apparent. Good AC and comfortable beds. Could be a bit cleaner, but still an old property that provided great service from check-in to daily room attention. "

"We loved the history and architecture of the hotel. Staff was friendly and attentive. Lovely view from our room of the bay. The food at Julia’s was fantastic .The only negative was the noise from party events at night, but quiet by 10:00pm."

"The hotel was so beautiful! We really enjoyed the fitness area where we got to relax in the sauna and steam room. The room itself had a great sized bathtub and comfy bed. Would absolutely come back here! "
