"The gym and club were fabulous, and the hotel historic. The sparkling wine at 5 PM was fun. My room was beautifully appointed and if you only used it at night would have been nice. However it was like a cave during the day with only a small skylight like window in the slanted ceiling. The room was so very dark during the day. The bathroom had a great window- but it was the bathroom! They should only use this room if it is heavily discounted or free. "

"This is a barebones hotel, but they get everything right. If you want to be in Berkeley in a neighborhood, this is your place. The attached bistro opens at 6:30am and makes the best cappuccinos in the area against some stiff competition. Cheese Board pastries are just a few doors down. Good bus service right outside or a bit of a walk to BART. "
