I explained that if they could accommodate us, the room did not have to have a canal view. The staff told us to continue with our plans and when we return, stop by the desk for new keys. "Rooms are very nicely designed. There is no desk or other surface to place a laptop (and therefore no chair) - perhaps not a deal killer, but important to know. A big problem is the lack of a card lock to the main door of the hotel (work in progress). When the receptionist runs an errand, you will be waiting in front of a "back soon" sign. Staff shrugged off this concern."
