The stay was nice. The room was comfortable. The only issue was that there was a bit of confusion at check in. But overall it was a good experience.

Place with character!
At first glance we were a bit weary of the place as the downstairs is quite cluttered and the house was very old, but after settling in we had quite a good experience. If you want a place in Harlem that has lots of character and a really comfortable bed, at a great price, this is the place for you. The house is decorated perfectly for Harlem and it really gives you the feel for what it was like back in the day. The stairs creaked something awful, but actually that ended up being part of the charm. Be ready to carry your suitcases up these creaky stairs, however, as there is no elevator. The air conditioning worked well, thankfully, as we were there in the heat and humidity of the summer and were drenched by the time we walked up from the subway five blocks and up the two flights of stairs. Jeremy is very laid back, don't be put off by his relaxed personality. He (and his staff) are really very accommodating. They even washed our cloths for us for a small fee which saved us valuable touring time! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Sugar Hill Stay
Stay ended up great however, I wasn't pleased when we arrived and the owner said we may have to move our room to another B&B on our last night. He ended up working it out but it made the experience a little stressful. Also, when we officially checked in at 215p or so, we were directed to our room but a few minutes later were told to leave for 30 min or so because the room wasn't clean or ready. It's a beautiful building and I loved the stay otherwise but I probably won't book this place again because of the unreliability of management.

Great B&B
There was a work permit attached to the door when I arrived with caused me a bit of concerns. My fears and concerns were immediately alleviated once I entered the establishment. Although there was work material in the foyer, the hotel was very clean and the staff professional and friendly. I loved the theme room atmosphere. I stayed in the Lens (Horne) room. It was beautifully decorated. The bed was very comfortable and I was amazed that the bed linen was ironed (no one does that anymore). I has several visitors and they were very impressed with the establishment and will recommend this business to family and friends, as will I.

Great Uptown Location.
Hotel was on our travel route. Bus from Airport (cheap). Close to all transportation. Our business was above 110th St. so we chose this location. Hotel (Bread and Breakfast) was quiet, clean and private. Will stay again no matter where our business is. Bernard and Wanda

Never again
Run down. Rooms were sort of clean. Management never around. They didn't know their current wifi password and blamed the issues on me. Not staying here again.

Stay at Sugar Hill Suites
The main problem with the hotel was that the radiators only went on for a short time in the morning and at night, despite the record-breaking cold weather. We would also have appreciated having hand towels and wash cloths in addition to the bath towel. We liked the spacious room and warm, comfortable bed.

Loved the B&B, didn't love all the fees.
Sugar Hill facility was great. My only complaint was charges. I booked at a $70 rate, but it came back as $140+ saying the B&B added a $60 fee. I read everything throughly and never saw mention of that. I inquired about being pet friendly was told yes and there was a $30 fee. i promptly replied that I was not bringing the dog. My final charge was $187, charged for the dog even though I didn't bring one. Breakfast is an additional cost. I will stay again but will phone first to clarify the actual charges.

MY VISIT TO NYC
It was a pleasant, comfortable place to stay and yes, I would stay there again. The staff was friendly and available. The neighborhood was quiet and I felt safe walking there. Several very good restaurants and fast food shops were nearby. The subway was not close by but just far enough for a good walk which I enjoyed.

Not worth the price
Two days before our stay I got a 4 page email, which I didn't have time to read so I printed it to read later. On the last page, a paragraph is snuck in basically stating that this B&B is illegal, blaming govt. for all ills, and asking us not to allow anyone into the B&B since they might be govt. agents. Apparently a law passed in NYC in 2010 outlawing B&Bs. Probably a bad law, but I don't care to be involved in protesting it when I'm on vacation. There are notices posted in the room ranting about the govt violating the constitution and asking us not to give information to anyone lurking outside. No one was there to greet us--the email tells you the code to get into the building and directions to room. We were on the top floor and were warned about the difficult, steep climb. The manager yelled up to us asking us to come back down stairs to register which we did. He never greeted us or introduced himself. He told us he'd already charged our card since people who book through hotels.com tend to not show up--I told him I paid weeks in advance through hotels.com. He then lectured us on not using hotels.com because they charged more (they didn't--I compared their rates booking directly). What he really meant was that he was having to give a cut to hotels.com which he didn't like doing. We paid $300/night for a B&B which ironically is really only a Bed since if you want the Breakfast part you have to pay $7.50 per person and we were never offered the service.

Kodikas ilmapiiri.Suosittelen hänelle, joka jo kokenut riittävästi laitosmaisia hotellihuoneita. Lähellä metro- ja bussipysäkit, loistavia ravintoloita ja kauniita puistoja.

BED AND BREAKFAST
