"Beautiful resort. Very relaxing and inviting. Would recommend it. BUT I was disappointed with the service on the platinum beach area. Servers stood at the bar almost all day and talked. They rarely brought drinks. I got three drinks myself for my wife and I while they watched as I walked up and brought them back myself over the period of an hour and a half. "We loved our stay at the Royal Haciendas! The kids club was a hit with our daughter, the games room was a popular place for our son and the swim up bar was the perfect spot for the parents! Food was great, staff were friendly and helpful. It was a windy week so we didn’t spend much time at the beach, but with so many swimming pool options, we didn’t miss it much (and the fact that you can see the ocean from the pools helps). Such a great family vacation spot! Thank you, Royal Haciendas!"

"After reading several other reviews, we were semi-skeptical, but we can't seem to understand where all those reviews came from! From the beginning of our trip to the very end, everything was wonderful. We loved our room, the service, the pool, the food, the staff. "The resort was the perfect size for my parent who has difficulty walking long distances. The golf carts and mini vans transferring people to different buildings were frequent. The pools were clean and staff would walk around to take orders for the pool bar. Our favourite pool was quiet but by the beach that unfortunately got a lot of seaweed that had to be shovelled every day(smelled sometimes). The adults only pool filled up quickly in the mornings. "Entire property was extremely well maintained, all staff were nice and helpful. Being able to visit other hotels within the Barcelo family is nice and offered the kids the ability to try different pools. Would highly recommend this property for any families. "This hotel exceeded my expectations. I’ve done other all inclusive places, but this is what all inclusive should be like. The food was delicious we tried all the restaurants and everything was amazing. Service staff were top notch, the park was amazing. My son rated it as the best vacation destination, he is 9. "IT was good. "

"I loved everything about this hotel and the food was so good specially the Mexican food. We had the VIP pass so we could go to all the resorts and eat at any restaurants. Our favorite was Akumal because the have a beautiful beach Caleta where you can see a lot of fish swimming right under you. My kids loved the kids club too and the shows for them were amazing and they got to be part of the performance and wear beautiful costumes. Will definitely be back!"

"Lovely stay - everything excellent. Only negative was the standard of food in the evening at the restaurants. Not very much choice on the menu, food not very warm. Would be better if Spice was open in the evening as it has more food options"

"I stayed here on a solo vacation last week. It was a great place, walkable to all the fun things in playa. The staff was amazing, the place was clean, and the room itself was great I would say the beach in that area of Playa del Carmen was not really swimable due to the rocks and boats. However the beaches near by offered more swim able areas. I’d totally stay here again. "

"The hotel rooms are clean , average accommodation , the pool is nothing special but we didn’t go to swim in the pool we went for the beach and it’s right out our room and awesome . Service was great at the beach club and hotel ,The hotel is close to everything you need . If your looking for good place to hangout at the beach this is it. I would use this hotel again . "

Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen - Downtown House & Beach House

"Hyatt recently rebranded this property in December of 2024, so those returning to PDC might remember this as the Thompson. If you reserve the downtown location, it is literally in the middle of everything. The beach house is about 2 blocks away. Regardless of which property you reserve, you have access to both. The beach house is right on the beach. Both locations have pools and restaurants. The downtown location is adults only. The pool at the downtown location is stunning. It's an infinity pool that runs the length of the hotel, has a swim-up bar, and plenty of loungers/seating and cabana type rooms. The pool at the beach house is smaller, but also has loungers and cabanas. The staff at both locations are simply amazing and attentive. If you look closely, the downtown location does need a little maintenance and upkeep, but that is likely on its way with the rebranding. Regardless, I had not known about this property before and I will definitely be back. It's the best of both worlds being able to get a downtown vibe and beach house all at the same time. "
