"This is a nice little place right off of the interstate and close to some fast food joints. It’s nothing special, but it is clean and doesn’t suck. Much better than Motel 6 or Super 8, but probably in the same category. Nice helpful and friendly staff. Parking was easy to find, but spots across from the building had some puddles and mud. Would stay here again! Recommended for anyone looking for a quiet stay that doesn’t cost too much."

"I have nothing but gushing reviews for my Makanda Cabin stay. The cabin was easy to navigate to. When I opened the door I found a clean, comfortable, well appointed place, with two good size bedrooms, living room with fireplace, a bathroom stocked with plenty of towels and soap. There was a basket full of treats on the kitchen table. Hangers were in the closets, luggage rack and lots of shelves to organise wedding and hiking clothing. I could truly relax there. My son was able to help out with wedding preparations for his friend in nearby Carbondale, I was free to explore the hiking trails, (Giants City, Garden of the Gods, Panoma Natural Bridge, etc) and attend an outdoor music festival at Grassy Lake. We did not use the cabin's kitchen to meal prep, as I found some lovely places to eat in Cobden, Carbondale... - and of course the Giant City Lodge... ( I even bought an apple pie from a near by orchard for the wedding party.) This location was very quiet at night. I felt quite safe jogging around the near by homes / golf course in the early morning. I would love to stay there again and would recommend this cozy spot to wine tasters, trail hikers and the like. "

"Beautiful wooded area, quiet and peaceful. The cabin was very clean and cute. The outside area had all yoy needed, firepit, chairs, and lights pathway to hotutb that felt amazing on the cooler nights. Definitely recommend, had the best stay! "

"I can’t tell you how many times we said “what a beautiful location” this weekend! It is truly stunning! We enjoyed use of the lake and the many kayaks, paddle boards and paddle boats they had. We also enjoyed feeding the miniature horses apples. The house is clean, comfortable and well stocked. Plenty of room! Close to the wine trail, Giant City and Carbondale. The host Brian was very friendly and checked to make sure everything was good upon checkin. All around great experience! We will be back!"
