This cozy and inviting cabin offers you a relaxing, serene, and tranquil setting. Inside you will enjoy a charming and comfortable, well-kept cabin with all the amenities that you need. During your stay you will see nature at its finest. Enjoy a drink on the large deck overlooking the picturesque landscape as well as the lake. If you enjoy fishing then this stocked lake is the place for you. Feel free to fish on the bank or the dock. This cabin is part of the original homestead that was established in 1855 by Valentine Kimber. It is located less than 10 minutes from interstate 57 and local winery trails.

Great location for birding
The cabin is so comfy and homey. We loved the setting and could watch birds as we ate on the deck. Centrally located for birding. Only 30 minutes from several hot birding/hiking spots. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and hope to be back soon.

Better than advertised!
This place is incredible. In town for a race and I couldnt have found a better place to stay! Super private, my own pond with pier was A++ and the place was really clean, cute and well stocked with everything I needed. Only down side was I didnt stay longer! Ill be back next year for sure.

We’ll be back!
The deck is amazing, the view from the deck is even better 😍. The paddle boats were fun and the lake is nice and big. We caught a few fish in it too. Suzzie is a wonderful host and was very quick to respond from the start. We visited in March (obviously a chillier time of year in Illinois) and it was worth it. I can’t wait to go back!

Little gem
This property is a hidden gem! So lovely to stay there. This is my second time, my husband's first. The firepit and pond are great ambiance. Love watching the deer and it has everything you need to boot! Thank u for our stay!

Beautiful and peaceful
We enjoyed our stay here so much. The house was clean, cozy and well equipped. The bed was really comfortable. It was super quiet even with the house being really close to the road. Traffic was minimal. We could have sat out on that deck enjoying the view forever. 🙂 Communication with hosts was easy and fast.

Clean & Comfortable With a View
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The "cabin" was clean and nicely decorated. We spent a lot of time on the back deck enjoying the view of the lake and watching the birds. We brought our kayaks and made short trips to the Cache River and Horseshoe Lake which were beautiful. The farms and homes in the surrounding area were kept in good condition and traffic was very light making a relaxing trip.

Feels like your family cabin!
We loved this cabin! It felt like going to a our old family cabin! Really enjoyed fishing on the paddleboat! Many fiesty fish to catch! Kitchen is fully stocked to be able to make anything! I couldn't stop watching the baby barn swallows on the porch or the cute new goose family! We hope to make it back soon! You will not regret coming, we got lucky enough to be here during the strawberry moon!!

Getaway weekend
Is located about 35 minutes from Marion and 45 from Carbondale. A small town with Walmart and others businesses is about 10 minutes away. The residence is an older house that has been very well maintained and is super clean. The hostess was very helpful with everything. There are seats out front and a large deck, with a covered area, on the back porch that overlooks a large pond. There is only one residence that can be seen from this one and we never saw anyone around it. This is a great place to stay and relax. Will be looking forward to going back and staying in the future.

Great farmhouse stay
If you are looking for a peaceful time away look no further than this remodeled farmhouse. With updates throughout, comfy beds, and a pond on several acres this is the place to get away. Very easy to get here from the Highway and have a very easy checkin. The owner also helped switch our dates as we had to make last minute changes. The owners have taken pride in this remodel and made sure to include everything you might need. I was even surprised to find the bed and sheets very nice. Updated appliances and of course the deck with the pond make it a fantastic option. While we were just passing through this would be a perfect place to take family and enjoy the outdoors for a weekend away from the noise. Highly recommend this location.

Cute Dongola Cabin
Cute updated cabin with a rich history on small lake. It was central to all the places and things we visited. Suzzie was an excellent host. We had our family of 5 there for the weekend and it was a great place to stay. We'll be back in the future.

What a gem!
This place is nothing short of amazing. The views, the fishing and the wildlife. This short trip to decompress from work was so worth it and we wish we had more time off to stay longer. Suzy is amazing. The cabin is adorable and fully stocked with all the things you need. This will be another of our yearly stops!
