"We loved the location and the rooms,we had a room overlooking the River Dee. The room looked to be clean on anrrival but around the edges was full of dust and the bathroom again just needed that little extra touch. Check in was easy and friendly. Bonus was free parking. Just unfortunate the restaurant was closed (we did know about this) Overall we would stay again."

"Stayed in room 4, very noisy due to main road outside window, church bell chimes every 15 mins and street light directly outside window. Room window has broken pain of glass that has been broken a while due to the dirt on windows. NO WI-FI in hotel, which hotel advertises is available but it is not, staff not prepared to help with this issue. Room spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast takes 20 mins to arrive at table after order taken but was hot tasty and generous with the amount of food...

"Stayed 1 night Saturday to Sunday. Free carpark, plenty of spaces. Check in was smooth, room was clean and well presented. Nice little extra touches like hot chocolate and toiletries provided. We ate here for evening meal, food was delicious and portion was very generous. Would recommend contacting to book a table as it was very busy and to ask if there is any entertainment on. We could hear the singer from our room, but that wasn't an issue for us. The free breakfast lived up to expectations...

"From the moment I arrived the staff were friendly and helpful. Location is set back from a country road so it was quiet and close to hills and mountains for walking. A few minutes drive from the main town of Llangollen it was convenient and peaceful. The chef was very helpful and able to meet my needs with small changes to the menus with ease. Room was basic but adequate and clean. Exactly what was needed for a short break. "

"Our stay was fabulous. The food is 12/10 We had our dog with us so we had to eat in the bar but it has a roaring fire and a lovely atmosphere and I’d argue this was the best seat in the house. Our room was in a little outbuilding and it was just perfect. Super quiet of a night too. The servers are all very young and the best and most smiley service I’ve had in a long time "

"One night stay along with our 15yr old son. All 3 of us stayed in the same room which was very spacious, set out lovely and very clean. We were impressed with the decor and fealt comfortable right from first entering. Yes it could do with a bit of an update but nothing to worry about at all. "Brilliant hotel, always try to stay here if in Chester. Car park for about 20 cars, but Watergate St is a 3 min walk and about £12 for 24 hours. Stayed in the Ascot suite, great size, spotless, all the facilities in good working order. Free WiFi. Lots of space, ealk in shower (very powerful). Best bit, the L-shaped balcony with a superb view of the entire racecourse and beyond. All staff / reception brilliant and friendly."
