I booked this 4 months in advance. I was travelling with my 4kg chihuahua. At the time of booking, and up until I got there the site said the hotel was pet friendly. When I got there, after being on the road for 10 hours, someone who wasn’t the owner gave me keys to a room and I hauled my bags and heavy cooler up 2 flights of stairs as there isn’t an elevator. A few minutes later, I was sitting outside with my dog, and was approached by a tall man who immediately started yelling at me in French. When I said I don’t speak French, he went inside and got the man who gave me the keys, who proceeded to tell me I couldn’t stay there with my dog. Confused, I showed them my booking where it said the hotel is friendly, and the owner kept yelling in French as the other guy translated. Made me feel horrible. They said they changed their pet policy 3 months ago (a month after I had booked). They were horrible, yelled at me and asked me to leave. As I was getting ready to leave, the translator tells me I could stay if I left my dog in the car (it was over 35 degrees Celsius at the moment), to which I laughed. Then they told me they would honor the booking but my dog “couldn’t touch the floor anywhere in the property and had to stay in a cage”. I specifically booked a pet friendly hotel so my dog could be free to use the facilities with me, not so he could be treated like garbage. They acted like they were doing a charity for me, like I wasn’t a paying customer. I luckily found an Airbnb.
