"The elevators were horribly slow and had a mind of their own, skipping the floor you’re waiting on and then stopping at every floor afterwards. Add 20 minutes to your schedule to get where you are going! No coffee in the rooms. This is the only hotel I have ever stayed in that didn’t have a coffee pot in the bedroom. Towels hidden behind mirror in the bathroom! Comfortable bed and staff were helpful when needed. "

"I always stay at Freehand when I am visiting the city for work trips which is a few times a year. It is spacious and clean, the beds are comfortable as well. I love the cafe for breakfast and the hotel restaurants and bars are great. The only downfall is if they are closed for private events. "

"This is an old hotel from the 1920s, but it is maintained well. VERY convenient in Midtown Manhattan for all tourist and shopping. Safe 8th Avenue location. Great bedding, nice towels, good water pressure. Our room had two double bed and TWO full bathrooms !!! Would definitely recommend this hotel if you want one that is relatively inexpensive, great location, and safe."
