"We were made very welcome, our room was lovely and warm (important as it was very cold and frosty), lovely and clean. Bathroom with a bath, but no shower. Large, comfortable bed. Very cosy. Breakfast was great and kept us going on our 10 mile walk that day. We had a lovely evening meal in the pub, which was well cooked and presented. Staff were very friendly and helpful."

"The rooms were newly renovated so our room still had that new shine to it. It was clean and neat. All staff were helpful and competent. The bathroom didn't have any hooks or shelves to hang or put toiletries but I made do by putting stuff on the counters and hanging my toiletry bag on the doorknob. "Very well looked after for a huge older property, a few cobwebs here and there but overall very good. Very characterful place with a strong historic atmosphere. "Beautiful building and really friendly staff. Our room was over the restaurant so very noisy but didn’t go on till late so didn’t really bother us. The bathroom could do with a tidy up. Black limescale in the toilet and bath and carpet a bit grubby. Breakfast was really good with a good choice and as much coffee and tea as you want. Overall a good visit."
