"Staff was very friendly and efficient. Check-in was smooth. The facility has seen better days. Elevator was slow, creaky, and in rough shape. Bathroom in our room was unacceptable. Large gaps in wall behind commode, and missing texture on ceiling above shower head. Shower spout was loose and about to fall off. Breakfast was standard hotel buffet. Fix the bathroom, and update the elevator, and everything would be good."

"The Tapoco Lodge is absolutely beautiful and the staff was amazing. The cabin we stayed in felt like everything was antique but somehow still new. My only complaint was that Expedia allowed me to book it as a pet-friendly room when the actual room I chose wasn’t pet-friendly. The Tapoco honored the reservation anyway and took care of us. They were terrific. My wife is already asking if we can stay here again. "

"On the third night I was out on the hotel's balcony, looking into the mountains. Eventually I got up from a chair an leaned on the wooden railing of the balcony. Almost immediately the railing gave way and I fell down about nine feet with it over a sharp concrete ledge onto the concrete walkway. After laying there helpless in excruciating chest pain I could not find my cell phone to call for help. After over one hour later the only other hotel guest came home and tried to help me up. "The staff were all super friendly. We had a couple stink bugs in our room - but we weren’t upset by it, we were in the mountains after all. The previous person must have smoked in the room because it was stale and didn’t smell good. But it was a safe and comfortable place to sleep on our roadtrip. Common areas were clean. It was nice to have breakfast included."
