"There was everything I needed and more, but so much needed repairing or maintaining. I was particularly unhappy about the reluctance to observe standard fire precautions at night evidenced by the wedging open of fire and smoke stop doors. This was noted at 23:00 hrs. Very pleased to find breakfast was included, and that ironing facilities were available without request. "

"Great comfortable dog friendly hotel in Reading with free Parking. We were given a larger room at no extra cost, when they saw our dog. Nice friendly staff. A little bit of dust round the lights etc, but certainly nothing that would put me off staying again."

"I was In the old part and it needs updating badly. Excited when I saw a spa bath in my room but bath was worn around the plug area and not appealing so wasted. Toilet was stained with brown as old. Taps on sink worn and spun round a lot before water came out. "

"Very convenient for Newbury town centre, train station etc. Comfortable and large room with massive bed. Shower could do with an overhaul and there really needs to be a bath mat to avoid accidents. Breakfast nice but a bit slow even though there were no other diners present. What irked me was being accosted on my second morning to be told in no uncertain terms that I’d left without paying for my coffee at the previous days breakfast. I thought that was quite small and left a bad taste. ...

"Our room had no cold water, we changed rooms but after showers the water pressure was very low again. The tv channels were very poor.only one of the bedside lights worked, the desk light didn’t work."
