"Had a lovely 1 night stay at this historic hotel. The interiors are dated but that is part of the charm. The staff were so helpful and friendly, we had an upgrade on our room because hotels.com had overbooked and the staff were very good about it. The room and bed were comfortable, but the kettle was a bit rubbish and not convenient to use (it was connected to the plug which was behind the television) The breakfast was pretty average, not the best but you had enough options. "Immaculate property and a great breakfast. Only let downs were finding a previous guests’ toenail clippings on the floor and left in the wooden panel above the bed (seriously, who does that?! grim!). The main disappointment was the seriously poor sound proofing. The rooms are adjoining so in terms of sound, it was like living with room mates with the adjoining room. For the amount spent on finishing, hard to understand why the soundproofing was neglected. Other reviews seem to complain about the...

"It was friendly, clean, efficient, in good condition. The spa was great - lovely jacuzzi outdoors with wonderful view. Breakfast for me as a gluten free vegetarian was not worth £19. Not really worth £9. Everything else was good value for money."

"Great location and central to most things. Beach was a 30 second walk. Main Street 30 seconds in other direction. Pier 5 minute walk. Breakfast included was great. Only thing I would comment is the parking. You can get a parking permit from reception but this was not told to us on check in and only offered the next morning when we asked about paying for parking or what options were. We were then given the permit which allows for us to park in the timed area at any time. So make sure you ask....

"The hotel is definitely in need of a refurbishment but it is in an ideal location on the High Street and only a few minutes walk to Bala Lake. All the staff were helpful and friendly, especially Tony, the chef, who cooked us a lovely breakfast too. All in all, we had a lovely short break here. "

"From the start Staff were very friendly rooms are clean and well appointed. The food menu choice was excellent to the point it was difficult to choose a dish. The food was well cooked and presented with a decent portion for a change. The fact that so many locals were eating there showed their reputation for good food was well known On the whole great value and I hope I will get a chance to stay again"

"Friendly, helpful staff. Great views from the triple room- picture doesn't do that justice and I have early morning photos of a gorgeous golden sky. Also sea and town views from the dining room and lounge. Stairs may challenge some. Triple room is a bit dated, but building has tremendous Victorian character with and contemporary photos "
