"We really enjoyed our stay at Oasis Hill. It is quite remote - could be tricky without a car - but just 10 mins drive from town where you can find nice restaurants and supermarkets. We stayed there for 4 nights and it was the perfect location to explore the North side of the island, from Punto De Teno on the far West to the Anaga Mountains to the East, and just above an hour to El Teide. Our room was perfect with 2 separate bedrooms and the bathroom/shower in between. Clean with a TV in each and everything you need. The hosts were absolutely lovely, we were given a tour of the property when we arrived and enjoyed breakfast prepared for us every morning. They made sure everything was fine. Unfortunately we run out of time to try the pool, but it looked gorgeous. Highly recommend! "

"Spent a week at La Chirita for a bird-watching holiday as a couple in our early 60's. The cottage is on the rustic side, but contains everything that you need for a comfortable self-catering holiday. The jewel in the crown is the location amongst the trees, in the foothills of the pinebelt, with a large, private, wild 'garden' full of native plants/flowers, and birds - canaries dominate, but there are also flyby's of both local pigeons, amongst other endemics. The view of El Teide is fantastic, in an ever-changing skyscape, in which it is occasionally obscured. You could just sit there all day. We bought the Crossbill Nature Guide book, which added greatly to our enjoyment and appreciation of the island, as it includes suggested routes both to drive and hike, not just for us birdwatchers. Shopped in local panaderias for packed lunches. All in all, a great week - easy, no problems, everyone very friendly. Thank you for sharing your lovely property."

"I really liked this place, despite some eccentricities. Estrella del Norte is run by a few generations of a Canarian family, and feels like a family-run establishment. The building is somewhat dated, but boasts fantastic views both ways, of the sea and nearby Teide volcano. They keep it spotlessly clean, and are very welcoming. I stayed in what they called the Honeymoon Suite, top floor. My room had balconies on both sides. One of the eccentricities was a hot tub in the room that also served as the kitchen and living room. This isn't a criticism; just an observation. I was ill for the first part of my stay, and extended my stay twice. The owners were very accommodating of me, and they earned my gratitude. They also provided, free of charge, a litterbox for my cat, who travels everywhere with me. The hotel is on a block that serves as a de facto resort compound. It's a little bit uphill from the central area of Icod, but is self-contained. The reception has a small shop with necessities like snacks and soft drinks and booze. Just around the corner, on the same block, there is a full-service restaurant (Los Faroles). I'm not sure if it's affiliated with the hotel, but I ate a lot of my meals there. They serve massive portions of Canarian food at excellent prices, and are one of the few places open on holidays. I would definitely stay here again."
