"Room was very comfortable and a decent size for a standard double room. Plenty of wardrobe space with a safe for valuables. Bath with shower over was nice and hot. Restaurant for eving meal and breakfast was very nice. Room was very hot at breakfast time but a nice temperature for evening meal. Service was good."

"An ideal quayside location with a great view of the river and bridges, particularly at night. Convenient for quayside cafes, restaurants and pubs, but with none of the noise of the nightlife (this is a particular problem with hotels near the railway station). The room was clean, comfortable, and warm. A wide variety of good nutritious food at breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful at reception, in the bar, and in the restaurant. The Copthorne is value for money, in a convenient location, and we’d stay again."

"Perfectly situated in the town centre, close to bars, restaurants, right next door to the stand comedy club and just round the corner from the theatre royal. The rooms are modern and clean if not compact and bijoux. Check-in was fast and friendly. In summary great value for money and wonderfully located - would recommend and would stay again."

"This hotel is not the best I’ve ever stayed in, it’s looking a bit tired in the rooms, corridors and public areas. But, it’s good value and clean and near the station. However what makes this hotel is the staff - they are fabulous, nothing is too much trouble for them, chatty and friendly and very helpful. An example : I asked for a late check-out for a work meeting at midday, which unfortunately they couldn’t do because of other bookings but offered me a space in the bar area for a work meeting where they said they’d cordon off a space and keep it quiet for me. In the end the meeting got cancelled, but super helpful. Fully recommended as long as you don’t expect 4/5* luxury. "
