"The property was lovely, as was the proprietor. In fact it was really special. What was not special was our rooom. We paid a significant upcharge for a nice room with a terrace, but it was just roof of a porch, and not grand or luxe enough to justify the upcharge. The furniture was not original to the historic hotel."

"Very quaint building. Comfortable bed and room was just right for myself. Didn’t have much time to look around but really wanted to. Heard you had beautiful grounds and good restaurant. Stayed there as I drove kids to Camp Orchard Hill and needed accommodations close by. Left early in the morning and came back late at night. Never saw anyone at the desk which was strange for me. Everything worked out. Thanks for the stay. The scones for breakfast was a nice touch."

"Beautiful Victorian house with great location . Walking distance from every restaurant and shop . With that comes the noise though . You can hear people all night long with the bars that are located on the street . The hotel wasn’t great for hot water either in the few days we were there I was only able to take one actual hot shower . "We're so glad we found The Hygrade Inn. We were traveling on a long road trip for the holidays and needed a place to spend the night along the way. The Hygrade Inn was a wonderful treat for us! The room was cozy, comfortable, and well-appointed. From the lush bed and bedding to the relaxing seating, we recovered well from a long day of driving. The large rain shower also helped us unwind. "Very charming historic inn. Staff was nice and helpful upon check-in, and when i accidentally locked my key in the room. I booked the Bouvier room on the 3rd floor which was quiet and comfortable. Being a historic inn, I went in with the expectation that it would be low frills, which is was. But for the price, I think it's a great option for anyone staying in the Newtown area who wants historic charm and to be in the walkable State Street area. "

"We had a good stay at the Montrose Inn. There is not a front text. Prior to check-in you are given a room number and access code into your room. We would like to come back after Co-vid when the pub and restaurant is open. If you are looking for luxury, this is not your place. But if your looking for clean and quiet, by all means, book at the Inn and help out a small business! "
