Everyone went out of their way to be kind and helpful, even helping when our plans to tour local sites got messed up by a very heavy winter storm that caused power outages. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was a bit pricey, but excellent quality and our servers could not have been better. Breakfast every morning was delicious and, again, our server was lovely. Would recommend this hotel if touring Derbyshire area. "

Castle Dike at the possible site of Kirkwood Mill. This may have been the original site of the Kirkwood Mill. There is certainly a good deal of stone buried in the bank at this point which has probably come from a building. This whole area along the stream is planted with Rowan trees and as we walked along I expected to come across a house and gardens which never happened. See 929463
