"I’ve been to many capsules across Japan and my stay here was at the too. Yes, I’ve stayed in Kyoto, Osaka, but wanted to spend a few days in Ōtsu and experience a slower pace and so glad I did! The reviews on Google and Orbitz rated The Calendar high so I gave it a try and I was not disappointed. However, I do need to mention if you are sensitive to smell you might notice the slight scent of smoke. "I was solo traveling in Japan as a woman and this capsule hotel was amazing: the location was perfect right in Gion; the staff were SO friendly and welcoming and it felt like coming home everytime I walked through the lobby; the bathrooms and capsule area were extremely clean and the beds were super comfortable and I was surprised at how easy it was to stay in a capsule room! Highly recommend if you are wanting a more community oriented experience in Kyoto "

"The room was a really good size. The building was clean and quiet. It was really nice to have laundry although it would be great if they provided a drying rack. This place is in a quieter neighborhood so definitely count on a lot of walking or using the bus to get around (the bus is very convenient and you can use your Suica card, just note that it's a flat rate of 230 regardless of how far you go).
