"The Toshiharu Ryokan was a great way to start our trip in Kyoto! It was a fun way to experience a traditional Japanese house and the staff was excellent. The bath was super relaxing and the Japanese traditional breakfast was delicious. "

"Very traditional Japanese ryokan. Vast majority of guests are Japanese and so is authentic but also a bit weird… that’s to say, it doesn’t cater to foreigners. Can’t decide if the decor is stuck in the 1980s or if this is just Japanese taste. We had one of the fancy rooms with a private lounge and a private bath tub (could fit 2 small people) overlooking the mountain and lake. This was lovely. Public baths were on 3rd floor, but we didn’t use those. Stayed for 2 days, so ate 2 elaborate...

"It was the first time I stayed in a Ryokan. The etiquette and professionalism of the staff was above expectations. The Kaiseki dinner was good as any fine-dining experience I've had. "The hospitality here was on another level, staff was so sweet and lovely. Anytime we came in or out of the ryokan, they would help us take out/put away our shoes. And when we left, the staff walked us out and waited until we were out of sight to go back in! I would def come back for a longer stay next time"

"A very nice place to stay for vacation. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is very spacious and clean. Just walk one block to the bus station and two block to the subway station. The buses are reaching to the temples and Kyoto station. No need to transfer. Very convenient."
