"The property was absolutely gorgeous, almost like a dream, with 2 beautiful shaped pools and a connected waterfall, with frangipangi trees and blossoms everywhere. The nearby beach (Mae Haad) is just gorgeous. The room cleaning service staff was excellent. The front desk and restaurant staff were pleasant but not super sharp. The restaurant had a nice breakfast and very good Thai food. Some of the non Thai food that we had was mediocre."

"Wonderful property and staff Literally steps to the beach. Quaint little street connected to the property with very good western food 7/11 and mini marts within 5 min walk. Cute pool lots of families with small kids so not a party place but very cool and chill. Very calm water waist deep paddleboards available. Nice sun rise location if weather permits. Only negative might be pool hours 7 to 7 Great spot would return again"

"The Explorar Koh Phangan was an amazing property. The staff was awesome. Breakfast buffet was great. The pool, the room, fitness center all great. Not to mention an amazing sunset every night. Would highly recommend and would definitely return. "

"Nice hotel but reception desk seemed unhappy. Room and pool area was nice but no loungers or service on the beach. Road to get to and from the hotel was potholed and difficult to walk - especially after the rain. Can go around the beach tho"

"Above all I would thank the wonderful staff, especially Dao and Rein, who were extremely helpful in every way. Their effort alone, to guarantee our satisfaction, is praiseworthy. Our upper floor room offered a majestic Western view. And given the number of rooms available we were astonished at how quiet the resort was. However, I must add, the steps to the upper rooms are quite steep, and given my ripe age of 72, I’d suggest that anyone with physical limitations be sure to clafify the room location - as there is no elevator. Otherwise our stay at Sunset was very pleasant and a great place to stay if you are looking for a quiet spot, with a great view, away from the crowded beach resorts. "

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Arrived to find a deserted hotel. Initially thought great but then was told no restaurant in low season even though we paid for breakfast. Steep road to cabins which taxi drivers wont drive down and need transport to get everywhere from it, even to a 7/11 which was supposed to be 400m away. Ninas coffee shop was around the corner and lovely. Nina helped us get taxis and said that the hotel has always had problems, no one stays. Aircon was not working in room even though owner said it was. The sea was out quite far to go for a dip and no pool, very picturesque to look out but bitten to shreds, accomodation was poor and not as described. Holes in sheets on bed. Fridge was unplugged so no cold water. When plugged in it sparked very big. Very dangerous. We like staying in cabins on the beach but this was poor. We found luxury accomodation further around the corner for the same price. Dont risk this place. The restaurant was the owners family home with tables on the extended veranda. Was dirty and outdated with her kids sitting on tables. Asked to leave straight away and explained to expedia the situation. The owner became very aggressive telling us she was poor and would not refund. She lied to expedia and refused the refund. Told expedia there was a restaurant and it was open. Appalling service. Expedia honour the hotels over the customers Dont fall into the trap we did with this one. It was clear the owner did not want to open facilities to 2 people. "
