"Overall, we had a nice stay. We were in the upstairs unit (steps are steep so if you have mobility issues one of the other units would be better). It had nice views of the gardens…you really felt like being in a jungle. The birds, roosters and tree frogs are quite noisy, but having lived in the caribbean, that was not unexpected. What was unexpected was the road noise, which started quite early. But it is a residential neighborhood. Sound machines in the rooms was a nice touch. The decor is lovely, inside and outside! The kitchen was well stocked. Water is rain catch but filtered and potable…we had no issues. We didn’t get to meet owners since they were off island at the time. Their residence is at the back of the property. There is ample parking. "

The owner was always in communication with us for any of our needs and accommodations. "The hosts made an effort to make this place special and it shows. Cute garden area with light lights, quaint decor, etc. We were greeted with the sound of the frogs singing in the adorable garden! Definitely would recommend!!!"

"This little cottage was perfect! It was super clean, had everything we needed, comfy beds, nice linens, fresh flowers and character. The owners put a lot of care into the decor and comforts inside the cottage. Everything worked fine and was as expected, if not better. Loved the two bathrooms off the bedrooms for our teens.The grounds need a ton of work that I'm sure is overwhelming for the owners. There is so much history hidden in that jungle! From mossy stone pathways to no where to overgrown specimen trees that were once prized, the grounds were amazing yet left us with a sense of mystery. Would have loved to have a write up on the property's history in the cottage to know more, as the VRBO historical description is not easily found. I know if we stayed longer the owners would have graciously given us more history, but we were so busy. Great setting for a novel!The coqui frogs at night were amazing to fall asleep to, but the roosters doodling at our window called for ear plugs (supplied by owners). There were many unhealthy cats on the property that needed some care, but also added to the mystique of the place. We could hear the wild pigs squealing at night but never saw one on the grounds. And we tried to adventure around the property but the spiders were too numerous for my comfort, something that is seasonal.Overall a great visit, close to Volcano National Park and Hilo. The cottage was comfortable and the property was intriguing. Mahalo!"

"Amazing location and an amazing stay in a beautiful well maintained home nestled in what feels like the Hawaiian tropics. With dozens of exotic fruit trees on the property to unique flowers, palms and night time tree frogs, this location is truly a unique and memorable spot. It is very central to many locations in the Hilo area including the National Volcano Park. We only stayed TWO days as we were traveling on the other side of the island, but wish we could of stayed longer. The host - Arthur was very kind and even gave me a complete tour of the property and brought some fresh fruit to our front door. 5 STAR location all the way thru. Looking forward to another visit in the future. "
