"The in-room mineral bath was so rejuvenating. The shuttle service to near-by train stations was convenient. The meals were “out of this world” scrumptious and unique to Japan salmon, tuna, barracuda, etc). The staff were kind and gracious (and busy). This place is a gem! If I ever find my way back to this area, I will definitely return!"

"The staff were amazing and extremely helpful. Provided what we needed at request. We wish was that in them knowing we had a vehicle, that they were able to direct us to a nearby parking lot with affordable pricing. The signs are confusing at times. We ended up paying ¥3400 the first night for overnight parking and ¥6100 the second night in the nearby lots. Other than that, the room was clean except a little black mold near the AC unit. Deep. cleaning could be better. Happy with our 2 night stay...

"I really like this place. It was very cool and relaxing while there. The service was great and the lobby was very relaxing with very comfortable furniture. The place was a little walk uphill from the bus station and getting taxis were not easy depending on when you arrive. The downside was the shower took a long time to get hot and the water from the shower head in my room felt like sharp things because of the shower head. They should be changed. "This is function more like BnB than an actual hotel. The check in was confusing, staff were non existence, there is only one bus line that run every 30min, and completely stop about 8pm. The sidewalk is narrow and share the same road as cars, it's especially dangerous at home with limited views. There are no diner nearby and everything closes at around 6pm. "

"Loved the stay at Kounso. The room was spacious and had extra bedding that could be used to fit your preference. I was not sure about the shared bath, but each room reserves time slots, so you do not bath with strangers. I loved the cypress bath, it was perfect after a long day. I chose not to use the room heater because of the kerosene smell. Instead, the kotatsu table kept me plenty warm for this time of year. "We had a very brief stay and it was clean, comfortable and as described on the website. Very happy. About 8-10 min walk from train station, beautiful walk over the footbridge. Only issue is lack of restaurants after 19:00 and we never received our code to check in to the room-luckily staff was onsite to quickly assist!"
