"The place is right across the train and bus stations making it an excellent choice as we booked an early morning bus tour. The room we had ( paid extra 500 yen to check in early) was very tiny bit we made it work for us, we still had twin beds too as I chose this set up. It has the smallest kettle/ boiling bwater appliance we've ever used, not even one litre! But we managed. It was also easy to request for extra pillow. "Wonderful experience! A stately & historical large ryokan nested on the eastern hill slope of Gero town. My second stay at this ryokan & will continue to stay there next time I am in Gero. Very good vista of the town in the morning or evening. Very large garden & landscape, with tall tress & seasonal flower trees.or bushes.. a beautiful & varied feast for the eyes & senses if one come at different seasons... Has its own hotel museum to showcase it's checkered history & early artifacts, etc....

"The hotel itself is very nice and has a lot of cool features. Upon checkin an older man was extremely rude yelling at us. Also, it’s about a 30 minute walk from the bus station and it was very difficult getting from the bus station to the hotel at 11 in the morning. We had to hire our own taxi which took forever to get there. Also if you didn’t arrange the dining way ahead, you can’t eat at the resort and all the places in town close down around three or 4 o’clock in the afternoon!. The...

"Absolutely beautiful place. A classic Japanese style ryokan with modern amenities such as western beds, private toilet and electric heaters. (As well as the ultra-cosy kotatsu!) Impeccable service and friendly welcome from host and staff. Communication is fine with a few Japanese words and Google Translate to hand.
