"We have stayed at this hotel nearly every year since 2006!! It never disappoints. The staff are as kind, welcoming, and helpful as you will find anywhere. The location is walkable to everything in Santa Monica, yet for an extremely reasonable price. I hesitate to write such a positive review because the Gateway is like a best kept secret!! We will always come back. "

"Great hotel and everything was wonderful. My favorite things were that the entire hotel was very clean and neat. I’m big on staying at clean and tidy hotels and this one definitely hit the mark. It’s been recently remodeled and it looks great. It’s nothing extremely fancy or premium but definitely has a new and renovated look/feel to it. Staff is awesome. Check in and check out was great and the person at the food bar was always so nice and kind. The staff always smiles and says hello. There is a parking garage right at the hotel for $25. Wish it was complimentary but most hotels in LA don’t offer that anyway. Right across the street there is a small restaurant (didn’t check it out but looks like a decent option if you dont want to go far. There is also a Whole Foods grocery store and two gas stations about a 30 second walk from the hotel so those are good options if you want some snacks and drinks. These are the closest and most convenient options where you can step out and grab something within a min or two. There’s a really nice outdoor patio with tables for hanging out and eating- this is the same area where the jacuzzi is located. Nice to hang out or eat lunch if you bring it back to the hotel. The hotel doesn’t have a huge lobby, it’s more of an entrance where you walk in through to check in but there is a decent sized sitting area where the food station/bar is located. There are a number of booths/tables to sit and eat or just hang out. The rooms are also great!"

"Everyone who works at this hotel is amazing, from the cafe personnel to the front staff and the cleaners! Everyone is very friendly and helpful, the only thing is that the hotel smells like Marijuana, even though the property tries to keep the smell down. The whole area in the San Fernando Valley smells like it. "
