I didn't and ended up disturbing a lovely woman and her very cute dog around 9pm because we didn't know how to check in. When we got into the cabin, we were happy with it and it was comfortable. "The Hekla Cabins are three, wonderful little cabins just off one of the main roads through the area. The cabin comfortably fit two, but there's a pullout couch (at least in Cabin One) for an additional sleeper. The kitchen has a small fridge and a stovetop, and the bathroom has a shower with plenty of hot water (WiFi was also available). "Great property a very short drive from Selfoss. We stayed a week in early November. The check in book is very thorough. I am very glad the beds were comfortable (rare these days with rental properties) and the owners were very quick to respond with all communication both prior and during our stay. "Lovely location. Wonderful main area and kitchen. Food was great! Hotel rooms (turf houses) are teeny - 1 bedroom house had nowhere to put luggage nor any cabinets to unpack. Bathroom had no place for toiletries. Minimal personal items such as no conditioner, no robes, no slippers. The advertised private thermal pools are actually shared with two other units. Since so little needed to be done to upgrade comfort, this could have been a 5-star experience, but didn’t quite feel that way. "

"The property was absolutely perfect for my group. We had great weather and viewed the northern lights 6 of 7 nights while at the property. Which was awesome saved me from driving to other locations yes the landscape did not change but the views were still amazing. I would absolutely stay here again if I return to Iceland. Yes it is a bit of a drive to Reykajavik but the location is great for touring the south coast, golden circle, and areas around the national park."
