"loved it so much we actually booked same brand of hotel in the next town we visited. the onsen was so lovely, and open overnight which allowed me to relax while my partner took some calls (late night in Japan but working in business hrs US time zone). free washing machines were so nice. other treats (free coffee, tea, probiotic drinks, ice cream pops) added bonus. walkable from train station and the attractions we wanted to visit "

"We had a pleasant stay at the Ougiya for two nights' skiing. It's a no-frills kind of place, which was fine for our needs. The room was a decent size, the onsen was good and the overall ambience was pleasant. It is an easy walk from the bus stop with various dining options and ski rental in the village. One thing to note is that although it's billed as 'ski-in ski-out', it isn't - you have to walk a few minutes to the nearest rental shop then take a shuttle bus from there to whichever slope you...

"This is a big hotel in Okuhida onsengo area, having amasing baths (onsen). We came for both the springs and the winter illumination experience and we had both. Loved it. The outdoor baths (shared) are great. We also tried hida meet as well as local hotel specialities, like turtle soup and caviar, highly recommended. I would love to come back one day."
