"This is primarily a young persons hang out. Lots of young adults that stay out late and party (off premises). We had a problem the first night with noise but the staff was amazing and upgraded us to a larger and quieter room. We are very grateful and after the first night, we had an amazing time. "

"Exceptional place to stay - room spacious and wonderful view of the lake. It has a steep hill to walk up from the town centre - but not bad. Did expect the rooms to be serviced for the price you pay to stay? "

"I have had the opportunity of staying at this Haka House a few times and the staff is always so kind and helpful. The cleanliness is almost impeccable. I must say I did not enjoy my stay in a mixed 8 people dorm as much as the female 4 or mixed 4 or even the 2 person dorm because of the unbelievable lack of respect of so many people concerning night time noise, odours, lack of hygiene, having the sound and notifications on their phones loud all evening and night long. "The room we had was nice and furnished well. They charge per person in the room and our 3 year old is considered an adult. There is a shuttle service to town which is nice. It fills up fast so book ahead. A brewery is close by and on a scenic river. The NZ police decided to setup a check point on the road out front just past the park.
